The F Factor Food Tour
Tour Summary
If you’re a foodie with a curious palate—or simply want to see Adelaide from a deliciously different angle—the Adelaide’s Fun Foods Tour is the ultimate way to explore the city’s quirky culinary culture. Led by a born-and-raised Adelaide local, this small-group walking tour dives into the uniquely South Australian snacks, sweets, and stories that locals have grown up loving.
Forget what you think you know about Aussie cuisine—this tour goes beyond the barbie and into the heart of Adelaide’s food history. Over two flavour-packed hours, you’ll taste and learn about iconic South Australian treats like Fruchocs, fritz, frog cakes, and the cult-followed Farmers Union Iced Coffee. Ever wondered what a frog cake is or why iced coffee outsells Coca-Cola in this state? You’ll find out—and taste for yourself.
The tour begins in the city centre and includes stops at some of Adelaide’s best-loved sweet and savoury spots. Along the way, you’ll sample chocolates, roasted nuts, cold drinks, and those oddball items locals can’t live without. It’s a tasty crash course in what makes South Australia’s food scene so wonderfully different.
But it’s not all snacks and sweets—this tour also offers insight into Adelaide’s cultural identity through its food. You’ll learn how immigration, agriculture, and innovation have shaped local tastes and traditions, all while strolling through the vibrant streets and laneways of the CBD.
The experience wraps up with a hearty bakery lunch in the famous Adelaide Central Market, where you’ll choose from an iconic meat pie or pasty. You’ll also receive a surprise dessert and a bundle of extra goodies to keep the food adventure going after the tour ends.
With a maximum of 10 guests (and an average of just four), the tour is personal, relaxed, and designed for sweet tooths, curious travellers, and culture lovers alike. Whether you’re new to town or a returning visitor, you’ll leave with a full belly, a few new favourites, and a whole new perspective on Adelaide’s quirky charm.
Book the Adelaide’s Fun Foods Tour today and discover why this city’s tastiest icons are as much a part of the culture as the churches and coastlines.

In South Australia, there is an ongoing (friendly) rivalry for bakery supremacy. One of the big names is Balfours and they have been a fixture for South Australia’s love of footy pies.

Adelaide Central Market
- Discover (and savour) a Fritz and get consumed by the sights and smells of Adelaide’s food hub.
- You can find an array of local produce from the Fleurieu Peninsula to Kangaroo Island!
- We also recommend visiting Adelaide’s iconic Chinatown just right beside the Market. The place boasts a rich history and delicious delicacies from different Asian stores. The iconic Nanna Hot Bake would be a good place to start – go for their delicious custard polo (at own expense).
