The day begins with a scenic drive to Lake Mountain Alpine Resort, where you’ll be dropped off directly at the snowfields—no lifts or additional buses required. Spend 3 hours soaking in the beauty of the snow-covered landscapes, enjoying the thrilling tube run, exhilarating toboggan rides, or exploring the world-class cross-country ski trails. For those looking for a challenge, hike to the summit for breath-taking views.

During your visit, you can also grab lunch at Beechworth Bakery in Healesville or on the mountain (at your own expense), supporting local businesses while refueling for more adventure. Afterward, we’ll visit the stunning Steavenson Waterfalls in Marysville, one of Victoria’s tallest waterfalls, before heading to the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery. Here, you can indulge in a delicious hot chocolate or locally made ice cream, crafted with ingredients sourced directly from the kitchen garden.

This winter escape is the perfect way to experience snow play for the first time or to enjoy a scenic, action-packed getaway filled with snow-covered fun.

  • Departure: 08:00AM Old Melbourne Gaol (377 Russell St, Melbourne)
  • Itinerary Restrictions: Tour itinerary may change to adjust for seasonal changes, weather fluctuations, and /or park or road closures.
  • Age Restriction: Child fare prices apply to children aged 0-12yrs. Children 0-17yrs must be accompanied by a legal guardian.

  • Mobility Restriction: This tour is not suitable for mobility-impaired travellers, wheelchairs, walkers, prams, or strollers.
  • Fitness Level: This trip has an easy to moderate fitness level.
  • Baggage Limitation: Each traveller is allowed to bring 1 5-7kg bag. Please leave your suitcases at your accommodation.

  • Depart Melbourne for a scenic drive into Victoria’s alpine region.

  • Travel directly to Lake Mountain Alpine Resort — no additional transfers or ski lifts needed to reach the snow.

  • Upon arrival at the resort, enjoy 3 full hours of snow fun and activities:

    • Tobogganing on both the Village Toboggan Run and Mini Toboggan Run (ticketed access).

    • Build a snowman, throw snowballs, or take a cross-country skiing lesson.

    • Enjoy the thrilling tube run or take a hike for panoramic summit views.

    • Explore the extensive cross-country ski trails.

    • Time for lunch at the Beechworth Bakery in Healesville or on the mountain (at own expense).

  • Depart Lake Mountain and head to Marysville to visit Steavenson Falls:

    • One of Victoria’s tallest waterfalls.

Overall, it was a pleasant and lovely experience. This is our first snow experience, our first time in Australia! We are blessed to see snow in a clear sunny day. We really had a great time!

He is so funny, very entertaining and very friendly. I love when he sings on the bus. He’s a legend! You should promote him. I love the whole trip specially in the lake mountain, full of snow! Grrr!!!

We took lake mountain day tour.
On time and clean bus. Joe has been helpful sharing stories and insights during the trip. One advice to share, if you wish to rent snow boots, pants and toboggan, go to the clothing rental first as they have a package price ($55 for kid), instead going to the ski equipment and rented separately (toboggan itself already $30, 1 pair of pants & 1 snow boots costed $50) which costed us way more expensive. Apart from that, the trip ended with chocolate factory which was nice 🙂

Day trip to lake mountain for snow.
The bus was clean and comfortable. Our guide/driver Graham was friendly and knowledgeable. He kept the day's itinerary expectations realistic so there was no disappointment as we ended up having to miss one of the places of interest due to unforseen delays on the mountain. Would happily use this company again.
