Unforgettable Kakadu Adventure: Jumping Crocodiles, Rock Art & Scenic Views

(1 Day Trip)

Adventure Tour Summary

Embark on an unforgettable full-day journey from Darwin to Kakadu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed treasure that spans more than 20,000 square kilometres of pristine wilderness. With its vibrant ecosystems, ancient Aboriginal rock art, and dramatic landscapes, this Kakadu National Park tour promises an immersive experience into the natural and cultural heart of the Northern Territory.

Your adventure begins with a choice between two incredible Top End wildlife encounters. Opt for the Jumping Crocodile Cruise on the Adelaide River, where you’ll get up close with massive Saltwater Crocodiles as they leap from the water—an exhilarating and rare wildlife experience. Alternatively, visit the serene Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve, a wetland teeming with biodiversity. Located on Limilngan-Wulna country, this rich ecosystem is home to water pythons, magpie geese, sea eagles, and even more crocs in the wild.

We then stop at Corroboree Park Tavern, where you can grab lunch or snacks (at your own expense) and enjoy a bit of local hospitality before continuing deep into Kakadu. Our next destination is the Bowali Visitor Centre, where interactive exhibits and informative displays help you better understand the Aboriginal cultural connection to the land and the ancient stories of Kakadu’s traditional owners.

Next, we head to the legendary Cahills Crossing—a notorious waterway brimming with wildlife and tidal drama. Often featured in documentaries, this spot offers thrilling chances to spot crocodiles in action. (Seasonal conditions apply.)

The cultural highlight of the day is a visit to Ubirr Rock, one of the most important Aboriginal rock art sites in the world. Marvel at paintings that are thousands of years old, depicting Dreamtime stories, ancestral spirits, and native wildlife. After walking through the art galleries, climb to the summit for panoramic views over the Nadab floodplain, stretching out across Arnhem Land—a breathtaking moment you won’t forget.

If Ubirr is inaccessible due to seasonal factors, we’ll explore Nourlangie Rock (Burrungkuy) instead, another stunning rock art site within Kakadu. In addition to its sacred art-filled shelters, it’s a top spot for birdwatching and native flora.

After a day rich with wildlife sightings, Aboriginal heritage, and iconic Top End scenery, we return to Darwin, where your Kakadu adventure comes full circle.

Naomi was our guide, and we truly enjoyed her insights as she provided information about Kakadu Park and everything about the surroundings on the journey to the park and back.
I would highly recommend this tour also because it was a small group (7 people). On the way to Kakadu Park, we stopped for the crocodile jumping experience at Adelaide River. The tour operators were passionate about the crocodiles and provided a fun experience. We then proceeded to Kakadu Park with a few stops at the entrance sign, the information center, Cahills Crossing, and finally a nice walk around Ubirr. It was a long day and trip, but overall worthwhile.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Crocodile Cruise and trip to Kakadu recently.
Saw so many crocodiles up very close and it was very educational. It was a big day but so worth it for what we saw and experienced. Daryl, the tour guide was the best!

Lloyd gave us a great introduction to NT wildlife with the Litchfield Tour.
He had intimate knowledge of First Nations hunting gathering processes. The waterfalls, birds, crocodile experiences and plants were well explained.

I did one day kakadu tour with Becs, she was a great tour guide who really took care of us
I went to the jumping crocodile cruise where I saw the crocs really close snapping their teeth, then I saw a lot of them at the crossing and went to Ubiru a place really special for both the paintings and the nature, great view from the top!

Signed up for the 'Kakadu Escape + Crocodile Cruise' on 11 Aug.
The group was assigned Becs as our guide. She's an amazing guide which kept the group entertained throughout the whole trip - so kudos to her. Overall the tour was good and fulfilling. The trip covered all the necessary, and the climb to the top of Nadab Lookout at Ubirr Art Site was just spectacular. The experience with the crocs was also unforgettable - seeing the actual creatures swim up to the boat was quite wild. Overall, really worth going on this trip. Thanks.

Wonderful day trip to Kakadu on the last day of our trip to Darwin.
The whole trip was fantastic and our guide, Tom, was incredibly knowledgeable. His explanations of traditional culture, practises and the areas we visited were a highlight of the trip and we came away knowing so much more than we would have on a standard sightseeing tour. The small group size was also appreciated, and the coach was comfortable with great air conditioning! I would absolutely recommend doing the day trip to Kakadu with the jumping crocodile river cruise.

A fantastic half day Jumping Crocodile Tour.
Jason was a wonderful driver/host and he was so accommodating - telling us about the areas we were driving through and local stories and stopping briefly so we could take photos of the Jabiru on the driveaway to the crocs. The cruise itself was great. The captain was very knowledgeable and funny, and the croc enticer was very patient and did a great job. The boat was great and set up so that everyone had a good view.
